Club Spotlight: Noosa Board Riders

The Noosa Board riders’ origins date back to 1968 when founding President Mr Peter Troy an Australian Surfing Hall of Fame inductee gathered his mates together and created what has become one of the most iconic board riding club in Australia. In 2018, the famed break and much celebrated club it’s 50th anniversary.

Like many BRC’s the Noosa Board riders Club is committed to serving the community and have initiated a number of programs including the “coach and play” program.

The program is for 4–6-year old’s and aimed at introducing them to the sport of surfing, while also enhancing their ocean skills, providing social and health benefits.

Committed to the understanding that grass roots surfing is the foundation, and provides the pathway to elite competition for athletes here in Australia, the Noosa BRC mission statement is to contribute and build success in the sport of Surfing across the Noosa Shire by providing a platform to further club members personal development in a progressive and team orientated environment.

Noosa were also an early adopter in regard to creating pathways for junior surfers looking to represent their country at Olympic level and they are continuously investing in specialised coaching to ensure their athletes battle ready prior to representing at inter-club or international level.

Voted Australian Surfing awards club of the year in 2019, Noosa also claimed 3rd place in the Nudie Australian Boardriders championships in the same year and 2nd at the Kirra team’s challenge. With a host of experienced campaigners set to fly the Sunshine coast flag at the Usher Cup from January 19th to the 22nd, Noosa will certainly be one of the teams to watch on the final day of competition.
