Gold Sponsor Spotlight: Wattyl

Wattyl was one of the many names in the construction, paint and trades industry to pledge their continued support for the annual Usher Cup surf competition.

Coming on board as a Gold sponsor for the second year in a row, this paint giant is yet again showing their commitment to the grassroots surfing movement and their heart for giving to charity.

National Business Manager Steve Gibson says Wattyl wanted to get on board and support an event like the Usher Cup because they want to give back.

“Our support for the Usher Cup is an integral part of our partnership with the Usher Group and Baxta,” he said.

“We believe in aligning ourselves with businesses that share a desire to give back to our communities in a positive way.”

Baxta is, of course, another one of our incredible Gold sponsors, showing not only the generosity of the paint industry but also the interconnectedness and shared generosity these businesses have.

On the importance of supporting grassroots surfing, Steve says there was no question in having Wattyl support the Usher Cup as their values align so closely with ours.

“It is our mission to support and foster grassroots and communities wherever possible,” he said.

“Healthy minds and bodies allow us to make positive contributions to others.”

Wattyl’s continued support of the Usher Cup is far from their only charitable endeavours. In fact, the painting giant has been donating their resources to causes that need them for a number of years.

“We believe in making a positive difference both globally and to our local communities.”

Steve detailed a few of their recent initiatives from this year.

“We have an ongoing relationship with “Street Art Concepts”, the latest being the Dunedoo Silo Art by Daniel Krause (Drule). The 20 metre high artwork, based on Daniel’s son took two weeks to complete using 435 litres of Solagard paint donated by Wattyl.”

Thank you Wattyl for your on-going support and commitment to community and positive change.
