World Club Challenge to become World Club Championships by 2026

World Club Challenge becomes World Club Championship

It started in 2021, a community surfing initiative designed to reunite boardriders clubs following a COVID-19 enforced competition layoff. Over the past 5 years the Usher Cup has continually morphed, with the best Australian Clubs joined by some of the most exciting Boardriders Clubs from around the planet, culminating in the introduction of the World Club Challenge. 🏆

In 2025 We are pleased to be announcing a new format which we are pretty confident you will all love before the contest goes truly international in 2026.

January’s contest will involve 48 Clubs from around the globe contesting the World Club Challenge at Snapper Rocks with the biggest change being that all clubs will receive a contest lifeline. 🛟

#UCWCC2025 will again see the main section held at Snapper Rocks with heat losers sliding across into the newly formed #FroggiesSection where they will go onto compete for the final two places in the Usher Cup, World Club Challenge decider.

It’s a new format, allowing for even more teams to take part in this epic surf contest.

In 2026, the World Club Challenge becomes the World Club Championships with the contest set to be contested over two legs, the first right here at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast, before the second and deciding event is contested at California’s famed Trestles surf break.  👌 🏄‍♀️

It’s a Boardriders club game-changer and we can’t wait to see you there.
