CLUB SPOTLIGHT: Point Lookout Boardriders Club

As a non-profit volunteer run community organisation, the Point Lookout Boardriders Club have always maintained the importance of encouraging both youth and families to enjoy surfing while providing an environment for aspiring young surfers to reach their full surfing potential. Located on North Stradbroke Island, the club is spoilt for choice with pristine beach breaks.

Spearheading the Point Lookout Boardriders Club is the super talented Curtis Ewing who is no stranger to competitive surfing having claimed last years Pa & Ma Bendall Memorial Surfing Contest while also being crowned winner of the 2021 Gold Coast Open.

Lincoln Taylor is another long-time surfer who lives for all the euphoric moments that surf has to offer. With an average heat score of 13.92 and 3 heat wins in his last competitive surf, it’s clear that Lincoln has maintained the competitive edge which saw him compete on the men’s QS series in 2008.

Zane Jenner at twenty is the youngest member of the Point Lookout team and while he lacks the competitive experience of many of the contest’s entrants, one glance at Zane’s social media accounts shows his deep love of the ocean and passion for surfing. When he’s not surfing, Zane can be found working diligently to complete a degree in civil engineering.

Point Lookouts female team member is a fierce competitor with a string of junior and senior trophies already sitting in the cabinet.  A former Layne Beachley Medal winner at the Australian Boardriders battle, Stacy Baxter is also an Australian Open and junior representative, a three-time Queensland school champion and has won multiple club women’s titles. Stacy is no stranger to team surfing and has been a member of two Straddie Assault winning teams. Stacy is also the Point Lockout’s club’s Chairperson and one of its longest serving coaches.

Male and female surfers nominated to represent their clubs at the Usher Cup will compete for equal prizemoney on one of the world’s most iconic surf breaks.
